When I think about hair products the same brands keep popping up in my head; Gisou, Bumble & Bumble, Ouai and Aveda. Social media has done that to me. Now don’t get me wrong all of those brands are really nice and I love their products but a few weeks ago I ran into a super old cult favourite. Biosilk Silk Therapy.

Biosilk Silk Therapy

*cue into backstory that literally nobody asked for*

When I was 12 I had a friend who had gorgeous long black hair that she flat-ironed almost every day and still it was gorgeous. And believe me that this was before all the heat styling products got into our basic daily routine. But she always used the Biosilk Silk Therapy as her last step and her hair was so smooth and shiny, I was in awe. Every time I visited her house I would use her mega-expensive hair serum (because you know, back then this was way too expensive for me to afford).

*cue back into real-time*

Well, I saw the Biosilk Silk therapy in a whim at the store and I just instantly remembered the story I just told you. I did own a few mini’s in the past, but I decided to go for a full-size bottle of 2.26 fl oz. // 67ml. Not only is this way cheaper than the Gisou hair oil I enjoy, or my Moroccan Oil hair oil, it is also just better. And I will tell you why!

Price Biosilk Silk Therapy

The US price is even way better than what I paid for it’s only $19.15 for 12 fl. oz. I am kind of shocked because that is almost 6 times as big as the one I bought where I spent €13,45 on.  But still, it’s a good deal even for in Europe.

Ingredients Biosilk Silk Therapy

The full ingredient list is at the end of this blogpost.

I am the first to admit that the ingredients list of Biosilk Silk therapy is not the most enticing or interesting ingredients list, probably a lot of people will want to avoid this product. But not me!
Basically, it’s full of lightweight silicones, some alcohol, some emollients, Panthenol (vitamin b5), some preservatives. The most special thing about this ingredient list is the ingredient “Ester of Hydrolyzed Silk”. That’s probably where the name came for their products. Never even gave that a thought in my teenage years. But it’s basically a hair conditioning agent that works as an anti-static?! That’s probably one of the reasons I like this product so much! Also, it helps provide a protective barrier and has moisture-binding properties.

Usage

It is SMOOTH. Like if this thing would be on tinder, you’d be on a date with it tonight. That’s how smooth it is. *terrible pun I know*. But yeah it’s crazy smooth due to all the silicones, and it spreads easily. The best thing I guess is that it doesn’t make my hair greasy and I can even use it at the base of my hair without worrying that I have to wash my damn hair again. Be careful with how much product you use though, this is one of the few products that says “a few drops” and you have to take it literally.

Yay or Nay

Well by now you know I love this product, that was kind of the whole point of this blogpost.

With love,
Romina
