Sephora Banana Mask Review

Sephora Banana Mask

I bought this Sephora Banana mask not too long ago, because honestly for €5,90 // $6.49 I could not resist myself. It says 5 usages but honestly, I don’t apply masks that thick so I will probably get like 15 uses out of this. It basically is a super fragrant soothing face mask that smells like bananas and somehow they managed to make the smell SO GOOD. Like the proper banana smell, nothing artificial. I’ve linked it here.

Ingredients Sephora Banana Mask

The full ingredient list can be found at the end of this blog post, but I highlighted the pros and cons of the list. All in all, it’s a really good ingredient list even though it sounds kind of scary with all the difficult words.

Pros / interesting stuff

Alright, the whole ingredient list of the Sephora Banana Mask is pretty good, but I will just highlight the best stuff here. Second on the list is glycerin, which makes your skin feel soft and attracts moisture to the skin. Next on the list is shea butter which again softens your skin but is also an anti-inflammatory ingredient. Also, it contains Cetearyl alcohol, which seems frightening but is actually the good type of alcohol (apart from gin-tonics) and con actually have benefits to your skin!

Some interesting ingredients are fructose, which I now learned is apparently a skin conditioning agent and a humectant. Who knew? Also interesting is that it contains caramel. I thought it might have the same properties as the fructose, but apparently, it’s a natural colouring agent. You learn something new every day. And furthermore it contains, of course, Banana fruit extract which has some anti-oxidant properties but it’s not like the best anti-oxidant out there.

Con’s and/or weird stuff

It contains perfume and colouring agents. Personally, don’t mind but I am just letting you know. To be honest it probably could not be called the Sephora Banan Mask if it didn’t smell like bananas and be yellow.

Then I just found something weird, I found Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate which is a sunscreen ingredient also known as octinoxate. More and more companies are banning the use of octinoxate in SPF as it is thought to worsen the bleaching of our coral reefs. But here it’s used to protect the product from UV. And it contains Ethylhexyl Salicylate and Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane which basically does the same (without the banning from SPF).  To me, that just seems like a whole lot of UV protection for a face mask? Or maybe I am missing the benefits of it! All three are perfectly safe by the way.

Does it work?

Mwah. It says to soothe skin, it has the ingredients but for me it doesn’t do that much. I mean it’s nice. It does make my skin feel a little bit softer and that banana smell is to die for. When I use it I do enjoy it, you know what I mean? But just don’t expect miracles from it.

Yay or Nay?

I would have to say YAY due to the low price and it is super easy to apply and rinse off. personally I love the real banana smell and somehow this is just the kind of mask you will put on quickly and don’t really mind if you have to wait the full 10 minutes before rinsing of, because it’s not that much of a waste because it was so cheap but you still did something nice for your skin. Do you get what I mean?

Will I buy it again? Hmm, I don’t know, one tube is probably enough and it’s not a wonder mask or anything. and *uhh* I also bought some of the other variations so I am set for a few months or more.

I do think this Sephora Banana Mask it’s a perfect gift, as everyone will probably like it. Unless they hate bananas. But they also have other types!
